One of the most influential female athletes in Asia, Chi Cheng, will be leading the "New Year's Day Health Walk" and "Friendly Pedestrian" events starting today. Chi, who is recognized for claiming the bronze medal at the Summer Olympics in 1968, is also a political activist. This time around, she will be touring through 25 cities and counties to spread the positive message to the public. Taiwan's "Flying Antelope," Chi Cheng, will be spending the next few months touring the island to ring in the 100th anniversary of the Republic of China. During a flag presentation ceremony, Vice President Vincent Siew called on motorists to yield to pedestrians on crosswalks and show the world how civilized Taiwan can be. Chi will be promoting the "New Year's Day Health Walk" event around the island and try to help society understand the importance of yielding to pedestrians. Taiwan's drivers are infamous for never stopping for pedestrians, but Chi hopes to change that. Chi and her team will depart from Yilan on the 8th and visit 25 cities and counties over the next five months. They hope to lead by example and help the people of Taiwan lead healthier lives. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
