Flip-flops are our best friends during summertime, but now doctors are suggesting not to wear them for an extended period of time. The casual slippers are being blamed for causing foot related injuries as well as infections between toe areas.

During the hot summer days, many people would wear flip-flops out, however, they are also increasing their chances of different kinds of injuries.

Because it is essential for the toes to clinch tightly to hold on to the slippers, possible blister may occur and cause allergic contact dermatitis.

Doctors also warn that, for both men and women, long time wear of flip-flops would cause calf muscle strain and put too much pressure on ankle and calf, causing muscle pain and joint discomfort.

Though it is convenient to wear flip-flops, doctors suggest that shock absorbent shoes are still ideal for walking on hard surfaces.
