The celebration is not stopping anytime soon. The proud members of the Chinese Taipei baseball team have returned home after claiming the championship

Even Taichung City Mayor, Jason Hu made an appearance in greeting these little heroes.

The new IBAF World Junior Baseball champions received a hero's welcome when they landed at Taoyuan International Airport on Tuesday night.

Taichung City Mayor Jason Hu and Shi Yuan Senior High School students were on hand to welcome the team home, and presented them with leis and hugs.

It has been 27 years since Chinese Taipei last won the tournament, and one of the team's sources of inspiration was a letter of encouragement from Wang Chien-ming.

During the championship game, Chinese Taipei was down three runs when it began to rain.

Because Chinese Taipei's players are used to training in the rain, they were able to come back and defeat Australia 8:4. Chinese Taipei's Lin Tzu-wei was named Tournament MVP, All-Tournament Third Baseman, and All-Tournament Defensive Player while also racking up the most hits and runs among all players.

Sports Affairs Council Minister Tai Hsia-ling was extremely happy with the team's performance, and declared 2010 Taiwan's Baseball Year.

Four of Taiwan's nine teams have won championships in international competitions in 2010 so far, and the SAC will continue providing Taiwan's baseball teams with travel funds.

In the meantime, baseball fever is raging in Taiwan.
