On the DPP side, certain senior members have pushed for the resignation of chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen over the recent electoral defeat. But most DPP commissioners from branches around the island showed strong support for her to stay in office, claiming that Tsai's overall contribution to the party during the election season should not be overlooked. A number of DPP heavyweights, including former party Chairman Hsu Hsin-liang, legislator Trong Chai, and members of the Grandparents Faction are calling for DPP Chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen's resignation following the party's poor performance in the municipal elections. On Tuesday, a group of local chapter leaders voiced support for Tsai, saying that Tsai has done well in leading the party. While Tsai is seen as the likeliest DPP presidential nominee in the 2012 presidential elections, even the local chapter leaders say that the candidate should be decided by party members and internal mechanisms. Wu Ping-jui, who heads the DPP's Taipei County chapter, is a supporter of Su Tseng-chang, while Chuang Jui-hsiung, who heads the DPP's Taipei City chapter, is a supporter of Frank Hsieh. Neither has been willing to comment on Tsai's possible candidacy, which leaves them room to endorse Su and Hsieh when the time comes. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
