The Sports Affairs Council on Wednesday submitted to the Legislative Yuan its program on sports talent development for next year, with an estimated budget of 570 million NT dollars. But lawmakers found the SAC's proposal murky on details, and decided to temporarily freeze 35 percent of the budget until further reports are available. 17-year old Tan Ya-ting made it to the archery quarterfinals at the Asian Games, and is regarded as one of Taiwan's brightest archery stars. To help young athletes train and progress, the Sports Affairs Council recently allocated 570 million NT to a new athletic training program. The SAC intends to have national associations for different sports nominate around 500 young athletes, and will select 130 of them for the program. The rest of the funds will be used to hire coaches and trainers from abroad to work with the athletes. The legislative committee that reviewed the budget on Wednesday found it overly vague, and decided to freeze 35% of the budget. The committee has asked the SAC to deliver a special report on the program next year, and will unfreeze the remainder of the funds if they find the report satisfactory. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
