In the future, there are no more priviledge of tax excemption for military and teaching personel. IN the currrent legislative term, if the 3rd reading of the amendment can be passed to eliminate the tax free priviledges, 370,000 people will need to start paying tax, that is a tax revenue of about NT$11.2 billion.

The Ministry of Finance is expecting the law to go into effects starting2012.

however, some legislators are not happy with the slow progress which is 2 years behind schedule, asking Finance Minister to step down from his post.

In related news, the government is to help the public filing standardized taxes returns.

those qualified will not need to line up at local national tax administration offices , the government would mail the final tax count before the 25th of April in 2011 for confirmation and easy tax paying without filling out tax forms.

It is estimated that over 2 million people will benefit from it.

As for others, since it is not easy to list the itemized deductibles, they would still need to go into the tax administration office to file in person.

Some lawmakers are worried that personal information would be leaked if tax information notifications are send out via mail.

Regarding the issue, Minister Lee Shu Teh is assuring that the ministry would pay extra attention and send those confidential documents out by registered mail.
