To save the Zi-Zhu military dependent's village from slipping away from people's memory, two college graduates in Kaohsiung have been showing their artistic talents by painting drawings on the old buildings in the area for the past three months. The colors not only revitalized the site, but it also attracted more students to pick up their brushes in joining this meaningful project.

A group of 3rd year interior design students from the Kaohsiung HaiChing Vocational School are painting on the ground, not to practice, but to beautify the old government personnel village with more bright colors.

The project brought back many childhood memories for many people. The students said they don't have a limit to what they do, and they just want to express themselves freely.

Two students from the Kaohsiung WenZao Ursuline College of Languages inspired them last year, who finished the first wave of the improvement project.

The Zi Chu New Village might be torn down this June, and the project attracted more visitors as a result of the painting project of the 62year-old village.

Thanks to those two students, the village is not packed with visitors everyday.

Over half of the residents moved away from the village already, for those who are still living there, it took them awhile to get used to the tourist numbers.

The students from the vocational school are now friends with the residents, with many of them cleaning out their old items and hope to create some art pieces with them. It is hoped that the village would not need to be torn down and all the artworks can also be preserved
