More and more people are using the MMS text messages to share special moments in their life with friends. However, many of them are not aware of the hidden costs for doing so. A woman in Taipei has filed complaints to a telecompany for overcharging her 2,000 NT dollars for unsent MMS text messages. Consumers protection officials also remind the public to learn more about the pricing policies before subscribing your phone services.

The Taipei 101 covered in fog is a pretty site, making some to share the site with their friends via the cell phone camera function and sent it out through the MMS method.

However, many do not know the exact price they are paying.

Ms Lin filed a complaint recently to a legislator that, she was charged for several MMS that she sent to her boyfriend and was charge over NT$100 each even though they didn't go through.

For ChungHua telecom and WEBO, each MMS of 800K in size would cost NT$14 for intra network and NT$23 for cross network, respectively, but Taiwan Mobile and Fareastone would charge more.

Take Taiwan Mobile for example, the charge within the network would be NT$128 and NT$160 for cross network service.

NCC said that, it would continue to communicate with the service providers.

As for those MMS that didn't go through, the consumer should not be charged for it has violated fair trade regulations and the consumer can file complaints to the Consumer Protection Commission.

It is reminded that, before signing any contract, it is important to read the fine prints.
