It may be convenient to order food products online, but there are hidden risks for the buyers. According to the latest survey by the Consumer's Foundation, many of the top ten online food sellers have set up quite a few transaction rules that are not just consumer-unfriendly, but may even be illegal.

Ordering foods online for home-delivery is simple, convenient and is only a few clicks away.

But according to a recent inspection by Consumers' Foundation on the top ten online food sellers, only three of them have clear information on the operators.

Other seven businesses such as Tainan-based A-se noodles, chicken feet jelly of Tunghai and a Tiramisu bakery, failed to have complete information regarding to the business operators.

If anything goes wrong, consumers may find themselves helpless when trying to ask for compensation.

Also when inspecting website information of the businesses, four of them have articles that infringe consumers' rights.

For example, the Tiramisu bakery has a rule, asking consumers to inform the office on the same day if the products delivered are damaged or have been incorrectly supplied.

In fact, this type of article has already violated the Consumer Protection Law.

Given the various online shopping disputes, Ministry of Economic Affairs released a Standard Form Contract for online transactions in retail business in last June and it went into effect on January first.

Therefore, Consumers Foundation reminds the sellers that while paying attention to the product quality, they should also be aware of the related laws and regulations to protect consumer's rights and their legitimate interests.
