Taipei's Wistaria Tea House is as well-known for its century-old Japanese style architecture as for its significance in the political and cultural history of Taiwan. This year the tea house celebrates the 30th anniversary of its establishment. Here at CTS News, let's take a retrospective look at its development over the past three decades.

Located in Taipei City, the Wistaria Tea House is a well-known tea house and cultural salon with historical meanings and importance.

Back in the 70's, it was a meeting place for political dissidents and artists.

Choreographer Lin Li-jen said she practiced dancing with her fellows at the tea house when it was a Japanese one-story house.

The tea house was the home of the current operator Chou Yu.The art lover provided his home as a gathering place for artists and political dissidents since the opposition movement for democracy was at its peak.

Chou officially turned his residence into the Wistaria Tea House in 1981 and opened for business. It has been 30 years. Now it's a place where people drink tea and read and where cultural and art events are often held.
