The 921 earthquake victims in Taiwan are giving back today. Having received assistance from Japan in 1999 when the quake struck the island with no mercy, the residents of the Nantou County are launching a fundraising drive, to take part in the relief effort by gathering supplies to ship to Japan. Volunteers started the fundraising drive early in the morning for Japan's post-disaster relief efforts. Elders doing morning exercise take out their pocket money to donate to the cause. When Taiwan was badly hit by the 921 earthquake 11 years ago, a group of Japanese came to Nantou to support the disaster victims and help them to rebuild their homeland. They brought clothes and musical instruments for disaster victims, who were able to keep themselves warm and entertained during the worst times. Given the experience, these disaster victims are returning the favor this time. Villagers who received relief aids from Japan are donating their clothes. Since it's very cold in disaster-hit areas in Japan, they bought 100 new blankets, body bags and walking canes to be sent to Japan as they believe it's time to reciprocate and return the favor. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
