In the face of worsening land subsidence at its Yunlin rail line, the Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation has started work on bridge pier reinforcement in the area earlier this month, and it assures the public that the safety of its service has not been compromised. It is measured the land subsidence of High-Speed Railway of Yunlin section has exceeded 63 centimeters over the eight years and the track slope has surpassed the warning value, taking the high-speed rail company by surprise. So starting this month, the company begins an structural safety enhancement project, ahead of its plan of doing so 9 years after the service operation. CEO of Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation Ou Chin-der admits the situation is worse than expected, stressing the project at the Yunlin section is purely for preventative maintenance. The adjustment of pot bearing project is to be done by the end of April.
