Oga Ayako, a Japanese evacuee who lived only 5 km away from the Fukushima nuclear plant, has arrived in Taiwan to share her painful experiences, in a bid to muster support for the anti-nuclear rally to be held in Taipei this afternoon. Having criticized the Tokyo Electric Power Company and the Japanese government, who jeopardized public health by withholding key information about the power plant, she now urges the Taiwanese government to put a stop to the ongoing nuclear programs for the safety of the nation. On March 11th, Oga Ayako fled from her home in Fukushima Prefecture's Okuma. Oga says that at the time of the disaster, the Japanese government had issued only tsunami warnings and completely neglected to warn the public of the impending nuclear disaster. Only after the explosions and meltdowns did local residents become aware of the danger they were in. Oga is condemning the Tokyo Electric Power Company and Japanese government's refusal to publicize crucial information, and says that she wants to share her experiences with people in Taiwan. Residents of Gongliao have been petrified since the meltdown, while one legislator says that the population density of 4.7 million and 5.5 million, respectively, within 30 kilometers of Taiwan's No. 1 and No. 2 nuclear power plants rank second and third in the world.
