With the water shortage, the Water Resources Agency is planning to launch the second phase of water rationing measures across the island.

To minimize the impact, companies in the Central Taiwan Science Park have started storing water in advance.

According to CTSP Administration, the park mainly relies on Shihkang and Liyutan Reservoirs for the 50,000 tons of water per day for industrial use, which should be enough for the time being.

The Water Resources Agency is set to launch a second phase of water rationing in central Taiwan on the 23rd and reduce water supplies to the industrial sector.

IC and panel manufacturers at the Central Taiwan Science Park, which require large quantities of water, are now preparing their own water sources as well as contacting water transport trucks.

According to CTSP Administration, Shihkang and Liyutan Reservoirs provide 1.45 million tons of water per day to the greater Taichung area.

However, CTSP accounts for only 3.8%, or around 50,000 tons, of that amount.

The park has two service reservoirs with a total capacity of 195,000 tons in addition to the manufacturers' own sources of water.

Therefore, the park should experience no major problems for at least five days.

Unless weather conditions change, the third phase of water rationing will go into effect at the end of June.
