UK's telecom regulator Ofcom has recently released a report, which suggests that nearly one third of the adults in the country now use smartphones. When it comes to users favorite brands, Apple's iPhone was reportedly to be the most popular brand, while RIM's Blackberry appeared to be young people's top choice.

With an increased uptake of smartphones, researchers are seeing a dramatic rise in mobile Internet use, such as sending and receiving emails. The report indicated that Facebook was the most visited website for smartphone users, with 43 million hours spent on it in December 2010.

The study also said that people are spending more time on their handheld devices, with around 37% of adults and 60% of teenagers admitting to being addicted to their phones.
