The death toll from last week's 5.6-magnitude earthquake in eastern Turkey has risen to 40, while 26 people have been rescued.

However, the sleet, snow and dropping temperatures have not only hampered rescue efforts but also made survivors' life more difficult as hundreds of thousands of them live outdoors.

Some survivors complained that the government coordination is so poor that they haven't gotten any aid so far, demanding Turkey's prime minister to help people in Van immediately.

While the city of Van is still in recovery from the previous 7.2-magnitude earthquake that caused 604 deaths last month, the second quake has just made it more difficult to rebuild the city.
