Another weekend, another win for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1. The latest Twilight movie claimed the top spot at the box office for the third-straight weekend.

Although Breaking Dawn has dropped 60 percent last weekend to 16.5 million US dollars, its worldwide ticket sale generated more than 587 million US dollars.

The past weekend's North American box office was mainly dominated by kids flicks from past weeks, with The Muppets, Arthur Christmas, Hugo and Happy Feet Two occupying from the second to the fifth spot on the chart.

Disney's The Muppets tumbled 62 percent to 11.1 million US dollars. However, since there are no new kidpics opening this weekend, The Muppets should be able to find its way to a final gross in the $80-90M range.Martin Scorsese's big-budget 3D film Hugo rose two spots to the third place, grossing in 7.5 million US Dollars.

Hugo was named the best picture of 2011 by the National Board of Review, with Scorsese grabbing the director prize as well. With acclaimed reviews, the film is also likely to earn nominations from the Golden Globes next week.

Sony's holiday animation Arthur Christmas raked in 7.4 million US dollars at No.4, while Happy Feet Two stayed strong at No.5 with 5.9 million US dollars.

Still, the overall ticket sales dropped to their second lowest level of 2011, beating only the weekend after Labor Day. Hollywood filmmakers are hoping this is the calm before the storm, as the final wave of new movies for the Christmas season begins this Friday.
