Brazil's fashionistas descend on Rio de Janerio for the spring summer edition of Fashion Rio. Brand Oh, Boy! made its debut by presenting a collection inspired by both the traditional and modern aspects of the Japanese capital, Tokyo. Designer Daniele Schwartz explained her inspiration.

Daniele Schwartz: "When we thought about the oriental culture we decided to focus on Japan, Tokyo especially. But we cannot forget about the other cultures that come from the orient that are also very important. We decided to not talk only about the tradition but also to bring a little of Tokyo's innovations to the runway show. Tokyo is a cosmopolitan, modern city, but at the same time it respects the traditions of its country."

But activists say some Brazilian models are being ignored at Rio's fashion week -- a small group of protesters called for more use of black models in fashion. The group's spokeswoman, Ruth.

Ruth (model): "We are trying to make a statement, and that statement is that black is beautiful. And as you know there are so little opportunities for people of color."

Back on the runway, things heated up as Blue Man presented their latest beach and swimwear collection infused with neon colors and floral prints. Fashion Rio runs until May 26th.
