DPP Chairwoman Tsai Ing-wen said yesterday that she would consider holding an event similar to Yilan's Folkgame Festival if she gets elected as the mayor of Xin Bei City later this year. However, her rival, the KMT candidate Eric Chu countered that instead of copying events elsewhere, the new city deserves a peculiar festival of its own.

DDP last year regained authority over Yilan County and has since reinstated the Yilan International Children's Folklore and Folkgame Festival.

New Taipei Mayor candidate Tsai Ing-wen was one of those present at the festival. She praised Yilan's natural environment, saying that in the future, New Taipei can join Yilan in celebration of the festival.

While Tsai is visiting Yilan, KMT candidate Chu Li-luan is taking advantage of the weekend to visit the old market streets of Sanxia Temples. After holding hands with local residents and taking pictures with the local children, Chu finally made his way to the blue-dye factory.

While admiring his own masterpiece, Chu comments that Tsai's decision for New Taipei to celebrate the Yilan Children's Folklore is unnecessary.

Instead, Chu says that New Taipei should celebrate festivals that are in accordance to its own unique local traits, such as Sanxia's old market streets or the Hohaiyan Rock Festival.

Tsai, on the other hand, plans to encourage the cooperation of the whole city while expanding the Yilan Folklore festvial and the tourism industry.

Although still early in the election, there's already an obvious difference in the blueprints of the two candidates' plans for New Taipei.
