According to Central Weather Bureau statistics, 15 of Taiwan's 25 weather stations recorded record-breaking average temperatures this past week. CWB officials say that the La Nina phenomenon is resulting in higher temperatures in the eastern Pacific, and that August and September will likely be unusually warm as well. Temperatures are expected to rise this weekend, and the Pacific high pressure system will not abate until Monday.
