A Taiwanese student and a professor have both recently received bronze awards from IDEA, the international competition for industrial design hosted in the United States. While the designs are unrelated, the two innovators are from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. Let's take a look at how these two designs stood out among over 2,000 entries from around the world. Persuading children to clean up after themselves has been an age-old challenge for parents everywhere. Lu Tzung-Yu, a student at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, has a solution: the Toy Guardian. In the form of a friendly monster, this toy box on wheels is accompanied by a fun story that encourages kids to place their toys inside the guardian to protect them from other monsters. By adding an extra component to this daily chore, Lu's concept will make children more motivated to put away their toys themselves. This design recently received a bronze award at one of the world's most influential design competitions, IDEA. In addition, Lu received a 500,000 NT dollar prize from the Taiwanese Ministry of Education. Professor Fan Jeng-Neng, also of the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, was awarded a bronze award as well for the Npant system for bedridden patients. Equipped with technology that alerts caretakers when moisture is detected, these reusable diapers can help to prevent bedsores and are also environmentally friendly. These two award-winning entries exemplify the high regard with which Taiwan's exceptional designs are currently recognized. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
