President Ma Ying-jeou launches a new "Made-in-Taiwan" label yesterday as an endorsement of quality for products of traditional industries, and products bearing this label will hit the shelves of stores around Taiwan in as early as October. However, as fake MIT products from China have already been found circulating in the market, the government also promised to ramp up its efforts to crackdown on these illegal merchandise. . President Ma Ying-jeou presided over the ceremony, which indicates the great progress of the government-endorsed "Made In Taiwan" logo. President Ma personally checked out the products, stressing the quality of these merchandises and the administration's action to help traditional industries after the signing of the ECFA. Since the Ministry of Economic Affairs launched the MIT logo, more than 10,00 products have been included in the program. These products are available in 14 leading chain stores, with more than 10,000 retail outlets nationwide. While the government promotes products made in Taiwan, fake MIT products have flooded the market, which are actually made in China. Ministry of Economic Affairs stressed it has cracked down more than 26,000 substandard products.
