A total of 53 students received this year's Presidential Academic Award from the hands of President Ma Ying-jeou this week. The president praised all the recipients for their tenacity in overcoming physical or economic challenges, and also for setting a great example for the society. . All recipients of this years Presidential Academic Award from around the country gathered at the presidential office for a group photo. Each winner has his or her tough challenges during there pursue of education. Take Hsieh Angie and her brother for example, both of them suffered from severed brain injuries in a car accident 6 years ago, however, both worked hard in school, with Hsieh winning this years high school division award after her younger brother won an award in his division last year, which made their mom proud to say the least. The physically challenged Liu Yu Ching represent the grade school division winners on stage for a speech; she is appreciative of everything in her life while thank God for allowing her the chance to challenge herself with her physical condition. As President Ma Ying Jeou presented the awards to all the recipients and encourage them to keep up their fighting spirit of never giving up, which also moved everyone at the office. Most of the recipients are physically or mentally challenged, some of them are from disadvantaged families.
