Oyster farmers in Tungshih of Jiayi County have begun harvesting. This season's oysters have not been affected by typhoon just yet, thanks to the high temperatures in recent days. On the contrary, the oysters have grown bigger and faster. Last year, typhoon Morakot ravaged the oyster farms along the coastal area in Jiayi, leaving no harvest. Fortunately, oyster farmers say now is a good time to savor juicy and flavorful oysters. Oyster farmers are proudly showing us the fine harvest this year as oysters are big and tasty. The high temperatures in recent days have boosted the growth of oysters. Most importantly, there hasn't been a huge typhoon this year. Due to the sufficient supply, now the price is around NT$90 per catty. However, last year, typhoon Morakot ruined the oyster racks, farmers lost nearly NT$2 million. They are still trying to make up the loss. The great harvest also gives locals a chance to earn extra money. According to oyster farmers, if hot weather continues, consumers will be able to enjoy delicious and juicy oysters at low prices. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
