Thanks to modern medical technology, patients and their families are

A group of children are celebrating their new lives after surgeries. Let's hear their courageous stories here on CTS.

Few can believe that these children can survive the transposition of great arteries but these children continue to on stretch and bounce like normal children.

The youngest is two months and the oldest is 13 years-old.

The common feature amongst them is a ten-centimeter long scar that is indicative of a surgery performed within ten days of birth.

Severe hypoxia at birth led many parents to believe that their baby could not be saved.

But now, Chao Yin is active and lovely, and even swims at six months of age.

Older children such as Kai-Kai is also quite active and even likes to climb Hehuanshan.

From their bodies one can not tell that they experienced a major surgery involving life and death.

Those with TGA are different from the general population which have normal blood circulation due to a parallel-type position of arteries.

This transposition means cardiopulmonary blood oxygen levels are not in balance.

Doctors said that TGA patients account for five per cent of congenital vascular diseases. Medical technology has been able to return the artery back to its intended position,

but it must be found early with surgery needing to take place ten days after birth.

Otherwise these infants may not be able to live two to three months of age.
