In order to prevent further split in the Greater Tainan mayoral election, DPP chairperson Tsai Ing-wen commissioned former premier Yu Shi-kyun to visit Tainan, where he held a secret meeting with Hsu Tian-tsai, the incumbent mayor of Tainan. But a final decision hasn't been reached on Hsu's part so far. In order to discourage Hsu Tian-tsair from running the Greater Tainan mayoral election, DPP chairperson Tsai Ing-wen asked Yu Shi-kyun, the chief leader of the five municipality election campaign, to visit Tainan on Friday evening and have a secret meeting with Hsu, which lasted two hours. According to the president of Hsi-bei association of Hsu's supporter group Liao Wen-chen, Hsu will announce his election bid on either August 17th or 27th. Besides sparing effort to contain party split in the Greater Tainan district, Tsai also continues her campaigning in Xinbei city. Tsai attended a Hakka cultural event in Wugu Sunday afternoon, in an attempt to win votes from the ethnic community. But the situation was quite awkward for her as she doesn't speak Hakka. The Hakka descendant from Pingtung stressed her persistent Hakka spirit. Within ten minutes after she left, her rival Eric Chu, arrived in the company of Council of Hakka Affairs chairperson Huang Yu-jen. Chu, who is not of Hakka origin, delivered a short speech in Hakka. His performance certainly topped Tsai's, marking a small victory in the very first hand-to-hand fight. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
