Scientists in Taiwan have achieved another breakthrough in biotech research, successfully developing a new herbal product which is totally free from chemical pollution.

Chinese caterpillar fungus has been a highly valued Chinese medicine.

But due to the declining number of wild ones, the need of manually cultured fungus is on the rise.

One of the latest alternatives for the Chinese medicine is called silkworm caterpillar fungus, which is simliar to Chinese caterpillar fungus in both the looks and the actual effects.

What you see now is Red Chinese barley and Antrodia campohrata and Chinese caterpillar fungus, that are cultured in an organic environment.

This is an innovation of local research and development skills, where fungus are cultured as if they are plants.

Red Chinese barley is rich in protein, which favors fungus growth.

When used as cell suspension culture, Red Chinese barley gives Antrodia campohrata and Chinese caterpillar fungus richer nutritional values.

Such new technology to produce fungus contains no chemical additives.

In the future, it may be used in dietary supplement products so consumers can have a healthier and safer choice when shoppig for tonics.
