Namahsia Township's one and only gas station shut down after Typhoon Morakot last year, and residents had to travel off the mountain to get gas since then.

After the villagers staged a protest, CPC transported 200 liters of gasoline to the township and promised to deliver 1,000 liters daily until road repairs are completed.

The government held a "Return to Namahsia" celebration after repairs to Provincial Highway No. 21 were completed last summer.

Residents were in a festive mood at the time, but have been protesting the inconvenience of having to travel off the mountain to get gasoline since then.

Namahsia Township only has one gas station, which was shut down after Typhoon Morakot, and the town has not received any gasoline deliveries in a year.

CPC has reservations about transporting gasoline through Namahsia's Mount Hsiendu Tunnel as landslides frequently occur in the area, but sent 200 liters of gasoline in a small truck to the town on Thursday

after a group of villagers traveled to Taipei and staged a protest.

Villagers are still unhappy, and demanding to know why CPC didn't take action earlier.

In response, CPC said that it would start transporting 1,000 liters of gasoline to the township daily to meet the needs of residents regardless of cost.
