A century-old Chinese restaurant is going to set up a new branch here in Taiwan, offering Taiwanese customers a taste of the authentic Yangzhou flavor. The new branch will be the first local restaurant fully financed by Chinese capital, so it will still be restricted in many ways by related regulations. This "Dream of the Red Chamber"-themed restaurant features dishes that each have their own background story, wait staff attired in costumes, and exquisite dishware. This is Taiwan's first 100% Chinese-owned restaurant, and the original restaurant in Yangzhou has been operating for over a century. Diners are greeted with Chinese classical music and authentic decor that takes them centuries back in time. The owners of the restaurant brought over its own design and construction team, and all of the dishware and dining utensils were shipped over from Yangzhou as well. As ROC laws prohibit imports of Chinese agricultural products, the restaurant will only serve domestic produce. Restaurants that are partially owned by Chinese investors generally close within five years, and local labor laws only allow two Chinese workers for every US$ 200,000 invested. The restaurant has therefore only brought over six chefs and a few other personnel from Yangzhou. Until the restaurant opens, no one can know for certain how the dishes will be received by the Taiwanese public. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
