In an increasingly volatile job market, more and more Taiwanese workers are pursuing careers in public service for the security they offer, making the competition extremely intense. According to the recently released results of the 2010 Civil Servant Exams, the average acceptance rate this year just reached 3.76%, a new low in five years.

Several test takers have gathered at the Examination Yuan to see the results of the 2010 Senior Civil Servant Examination.

This year, around 130 thousand people registered to take the exam, but only 3,356 people were accepted, which is equal to about a 3.76% acceptance rate, the lowest since 2006.

Not only that, her son ranked third in personnel administration, ensuring that he will have a cushy job and income in the future.

27-year-old Kao Peiling also got accepted after ten months of diligent study.

Many test takers seeing their name on the acceptance list, whipped out their phones to notify their family of the good news, making it the best Mid-Autumn gift this year.

Before the results were released, vice president of the Examination Yuan, Wu Jin-lin stamps the acceptance list to officiate the results.

This pen has traditionally become a treasured item for many people.

Although Taiwan's economy is slowly recovering, the stability and benefits of public service still attracts many job hunters whose ages range across three generations.

The youngest of them is only 20 years old, while the oldest is 57 years old.
