Looks like Rainbow Village will be staying the way it is. Taichung Mayor Jason Hu has promised to preserve the colorful site after a group of supporters launched a campaign on the Internet. Let's take a look at the visually impressive locale, that's all made by the creative hands of one veteran. Taichung Mayor Jason Hu promised to preserve a painted military dependants' village, which was planned to be pulled down under the neighborhood reform project, following a campaign launched on website. Thousands of supporters joined the campaign in one week and Taichung Mayor Jason Hu's mailbox was jammed with such petition. Now, after the city government inspection, they believed it's worth to be preserved and the Rainbow Village is given a second chance. Now, Mr. Huang says he's happy that he can continue living and painting in this area. The online petition campaign has saved Rainbow Village from being torn down. A new plan will include the site in the reform project as a park. More detailed planning is required and hopefully there would be more spaces for Mr. Huang to keep painting. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
