President Ma Ying-jeou continues to show support to the typhoon victims, by paying visits and inspecting the flooded areas in Kaohsiung. However, Ma did not provide an answer to Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chu's request to change the disaster relief policy.

Located in Kaohsiung City, Wenzao Ursuline College of Languages lost more than 100 million NTD in typhoon Fanapi.

The audio visual classroom in the basement is submerged in floodwater.

When President Ma inspected the site, he talked about installing flood proof external walls for several times.

Since flood management takes time, President Ma hopes local residents to have flood proof doors installed before the monsoon season ends this year.

However, the flood water was as deep as 230 centimeters in Ren-wu Industrial Park in Kaohsiung County.

Businessmen believe it is of little use to install such gates.

More than 400 buildings in Kaohsiung City have flooded basement and cars soaked in water.

But this is not included in the disaster relief aid.

Kaohsiung City Mayor Chen Chu expressed her wish to President Ma during the president's inspection visit.

But during President Ma's remark, which lasted more than 10 minutes, he didn't respond to Chen's call, even adding that Taipei City Government paid for waterproof gates on its own.

Now the central government subsidizes Kaohsiung City to build the gates.

Apparently, it's a polite, yet upsetting answer to Chen's question.
