The Council of Labor Affairs officially launched its stimulus program this week, creating 13,000 temporary jobs around Taiwan. But some of the openings are under weird

In Kaohsiung's Chaishan, the Taiwan macaque frequently bothers mountain climbers for food.Here we see a monkey jump onto the roof of a house looking for food.

These Chaishan monkeys are not afraid of people, and an increasing number of them has become an issue plaguing local residents and tourists.

Therefore, the Council of Labor Affairs new, "wish to be employed" program includes job openings for people to catch monkeys.

This has triggered a great deal of criticism.

Some of the strange jobs not only include chasing monkeys but in Taichung City there are jobs for burning ghost money and ash disposal.

These job openings are meant to help people burn ghost money.

13,000 jobs will be available throughout different counties and cities for a period of 6 months.

It will allow people to earn 100 NT$, and earning a monthly salary of 17,000 NT$.

The plan is to help the long-term unemployed, or older unemployed people according to the Council of Labor Affairs.

Still, some labor organizations criticize the government for this short-term plan to offer 13,000 jobs as year-end elections approach.

They believe it is part of Premier Wu Den-Yih's pledge to keep the unemployment rate at a target of no more than 5%.
