The Yunlin International Puppet Festival has kicked off, bringing together the great skills of puppet masters from Taiwan and 5 other countries. And to satisfy the curious ones, the experts will be disclosing their techniques and their know-how during this event.

The Indian girl Aruita visits her favorite big tree each day.

But one day, the Indian prince orders the tree to be cut, which saddens Aruita. This play from Singapore's Monkey Paper troupe was so exciting that children paid full attention.

The 9 day Yunlin International Puppet Festival started on the 16th to help Yunlin's puppets jump onto the international stage.

Not only did puppet masters from all over Taiwan come here to perform, organizers also invited Japanese, Italian, and French performance troupes to perform, making up a total of 5 countries.

There were also lessons on hand to teach children how to control the puppets. Yunlin County Cultural Bureau chief Lee Ming-yue said these interactive activities can help Taiwan's traditional puppets reach the international stage.
