According to the latest stats, the unemployment rate of September has dropped to 5.5 percent, and the number is looking to fall below 5 percent in October, meeting Premier Wu Den-Yih's goal earlier than expected.

Pleased by the result of more people finding jobs, Wu stated another target, hoping that the unemployment rate will average below 5 percent throughout next year.

As it's around the year-end period, the logistics industry is hiring a lot now, with 30 companies offering 5,000 positions.

But the career expo is not as bustling as expected.

Besides fresh graduates seeking to land their first job, some office workers come here to seek an opportunity to switch gear.

The 30 companies include chain hypermarkets, convenient stores, department stores and food outlets.

However, it seems there are more jobs waiting to be filled, a sign that the economy is rising.

According to Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics, the unemployment rate in September was 5.05%.

By October the soonest, it would reach Premier Wu Den-yih's goal of lowering the unemployment rate to below 5% before the end of this year.

While the economy is picking up, Premier Wu is setting another goal.

However, many criticize that the real challenge starts next year when the government stops its many incentive programs to boost the employment market.

Responding to this, Wu says that the government is dedicated to the long-term policy to offer diverse employment programs and creation of employment opportunities of both short-term and long-term.
