Three northern cities--Taipei, Xin Bei and Keelung--will hold their first Joint Basic Competence Test for Junior High School Students next year, and the exam's administrator has just released the sample test questions, which are characterized by an incorporation of local elements.

Junior high schools in Taipei City urge test-takers to seize the opportunity to get into their dream school.

Or they will have to take the basic competence test for juinor high school students nationwide,

which will be much more difficult as they'll have to fight for the 10% of slots reserved for their peers from Taipei, Xinbei and Keelung City.
