With Christmas just days away, many non-profit organizations have started raising gifts for the children from disadvantaged families. 1,100 presents will be delivered to the little ones on this holiday, to give them a day to rejoice and to remember. Staffs of this charitable organization, Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, are busy packing Christmas gifts for the disadvantaged kids. It only took them five days to raise 1,100 gifts from across the island. With a greeting card along with it, the presents are for the children affected by Typhoon Morakot, and those that are from underprivileged families. For this family of three boys, their biggest wish is to have a bicycle. Chen's mother said, that the eldest son's bicycle was stolen, and she hasn't been able to afford a new one because the family is in debt. Now, with a new bicycle as their Christmas present, the three brothers no longer have to walk to school anymore. According to Taiwan Fund for Children and Families, 90 percent of families supported by the organization have financial difficulties, and being able to celebrate the holiday is more than they can ask for. Besides raising gifts, another charity group is encouraging local residents to get involved in the adopting program, to provide funds for children in poor countries, with a goal of spreading love and care from Taiwan to the rest of the world. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
