After operating in deficit for four years, Taiwan High Speed Rail Corporation has finally managed to break even in six months of this year. And a series of new promotional programs have been scheduled to start following the Chinese New Year, which include the highly-anticipated early bird discounts. During off-peak hours, there are still a lot of passengers at high-speed rail system stations. After the system was established four years ago, the ridership has exceeded 36 million people, with this December being the month with the highest revenue in a single month. Taiwan Highspeed Rail system says for the first time that during 2010, the company stops losing money for six months. As the average monthly ridership of this year reaches 100,000, the company plans to offer new incentives, which will be announced in January 20th. Now the incentive plan offers better discounts to advance fares. Although the new promotion is ready after the Lunar New Year holidays, some passengers believe this is not enough. The high-speed rail system says now the discount offer is the early-bird project. But starting from January next year, it will collaborate with Taiwan Railway Administration to launch 3-day or 5-day pass exclusive for non-citizens, hoping to cash in on the rising tourism demand and continue to boost the ridership. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
