Sun Yat-sen's granddaughter, Nora Sun, remains in a critical state after she she was reported to be in a serious car accident on New Year's Day. According to Hsin Kwong Hospital, Sun suffered from severe chest injury when she arrived at the emergency room. Upon hearing this bad news, President Ma Ying-jeou has since paid a visit to show his concern. The black sedan sitting in the middle of the highway has been wrecked. Glass is everywhere on the road. At around 7:40am, Sun Yat-sen's granddaughter, Nora Sun was on the way to the airport to return to Hong Kong. But her car was wrecked by an oncoming red car that lost control. The driver in Sun's car died at the hospital, while Sun was heavily injured when she arrived at Hsing Kwong Hospital. The hospital said Sun suffered fractures in various places and was pumped with 12,000 cc of blood. Doctors installed 3 braces on her chest and operated for over 8 hours before she was placed in the intensive care unit. But Sun was still in danger and in comma of level 3. President Ma sent Presidential Office Secretary Liao Leyi to the hospital when he first heard the news. Nora Sun is now 72 years old and the youngest daughter of Sun Yat-sen's eldest son, Sun Ke, who was also a previous premier of Taiwan. Nora Sun has served as a flight attendant and also diplomat in her career, and is currently the chair of the Sun Yat-sen Peace Foundation. She currently resides in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and the US. She was in Taiwan this time because her friend invited her to Taipei's Flora Expo. Sun was quite fashionable and outgoing. She even said hi to people that recognized her. Sun was originally set to return to Hong Kong on the first.
