A limited edition of commemorative coins for the upcoming Year of the Rabbit was released for sale around the island on Thursday. And although the price of each set has reached a historical high because of rising silver prices in the international market, it still took less than one day for all the 120,000 sets to be sold out. Though it was only 11 degrees Celsius in the morning, many people lined up in front of Bank of Taiwan early in the morning, some even waited since 6 pm since the previous night just to ensure their chances of getting their limited edition year of the rabbit coin sets. Those who were among the first to get the set early opened them up immediately. The set includes silver coin of 50 and a coin of 20 in face value. One side of the silver coin is the tame rabbit, symbolic of peace and prosperity and the other side is the first class historic building of ChiKang fort of Tainan. The box is a red wooden grain patterned container. The set is limited to one set per customer with some people buying the set every year. There are only 120,000 sets of those coins released this year at the price of NT$1,550, which is NT$200 more than last years price due to rising international silver prices. It is also the third time the Central Bank of China of Taiwan has raised the coin set price since 2005 and the current set is selling at a historic high price. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
