The Council of Labor Affairs is planning to roll out a new incentive program that will offer an annual subsidy of up to 56,000 NT dollars for local workers willing to take manual jobs that are more physically demanding and of higher risks, in an attempt to solve the problem of labor shortage for certain traditional industries while reducing the unemployment rate.

The traditional manufacturing industry along with those that are difficult, dirty, or dangerous such as casting or finishing, typically have difficulty finding workers with the majority being foreign workers.

To encourage more domestic unemployed workers to go into these industries after the Lunar New Year, the Council of Labor Affairs will offer a pilot program, which includes an employment subsidy for 500 individuals that for each month worked,

they can receive 3,000 NT$, and in the 3d month, 5,000 NT$ for a maximum subsidy of 56,000 NT$ over a year.

The Council of Labor Affairs said that the economic recovery has made the job market difficult for the traditional manufacturing industry,

which has seen a long-term shortage.

Many are reluctant to enter this industry, as this pilot program, will improve work incentives and employers need not know.

The CLA believes that if workers can be employed for 1 year, their skill will en

and they can also be rewarded with a stable job which is a win-win situation.

If this pilot program is successful, it may be considered as part of the normal budget for next year and a formal program can be introduced.
