Despite the chilly weather, the Taipei New Year's Market on Di-hua Street is bustling with shoppers. On the last day right before the holiday, many businesses are offering special deals to attract more customers and to boost last minute sales.

On this particularly cold weekend, Dihua street sellers and barkers are counting down the last days of the big New Year's sale to cash in more profits.

Many shoppers have brought their whole family to witness the festive atmosphere at the sale.

Some brought their kids out in the early morning to buy fresh groceries.

Looking across the stands, one can see a whole range of Chinese New Year's delights from candy, dried squid, to an assortment of nuts.

Mullet roe, a traditional New Year's feast dish, was sold out instantly at the same price of last year.

The big New Year's sale also took place indoors, as well.

The white pomfret fish, which usually sells at high prices, were sold twenty percent cheaper than ones out on the market to retain customers.

Nanbei grocery store also sold their merchandise at promotional prices and accumulated mass profits.

Taking advantage of the last weekend just before Chinese New Year's, vendors will be more aggressively promoting their products to attract more buyers during the afternoon and nighttime, when they expect consumer numbers to reach a peak.
