However, as there is a fast-closing window of opportunity for the female panda to conceive, the experts have therefore decided to take things into their own hands.

Though it is the mating season for giant pandas, male panda Tuan Tuan, who just reached maturity, seemed to be only interested in feeding himself and focusing on food only and not its mate, Yuan Yuan.

Thus the zoo staff had to put Tuan Tuan under at 10 am to extract his sperm.

According to the experts from China, though it is the first time,

Tuan Tuan's sperm quality is good, and there should be a good chance Yuan Yuan will conceive.

Those experts from China were instructed by Chinese government to make sure that the giant panda pair can be pregnant and were too stressed to sleep for the last few days or to be interviewed by the press.

This situation might turn Tuan Tuan into a dad before it even knows how to be a mate to Yuan Yuan.
