A crowd of labor union group representatives have gathered in front of the Taipei District Court in support of their fellow members who were indicted for violating the Parade and Assembly Act during a protest two years ago. The demonstrators said that the government fails to protect people's constitutional rights to assemble and the act should be abolished all together.

On December 30, 2009, demonstrators from labor unions threw cow dung at the KMT's headquarters to protest the Labor Union Act.

Five protesters were arrested and seven, including Union of Taipei Vocational Association Director Chou Chia-chun, were eventually indicted for violating the Parade and Assembly Act.

According to Chou, she has participated in many street demonstrations and this one was the most ridiculous.

The third court session for the case was held on Thursday at the Taipei District Court, and labor groups gathered outside to stage another protest.

According to the groups, the Parade and Assembly Act violates the Constitution and their civic rights, and the government and police are working together to suppress them.

They are now threatening to recruit 70, 700, or 7,000 workers for a Labor Day demonstration on May 1st.
