A hospital in Hsinchu has recently made a shocking discovery, that 60% of the male employees from the Hsinchu Science Park who have sought for help in fertility clinics have bad semen quality. Doctors speculate that this below the average condition may be a result of long hours and stress from work.

Long working hours and stress is the normal conditions for those working in the high tech industries, which may be the cause for infertility.

According to the Cathay Hospital in the Hsinchu fertility clinic, of those seeking help, two third of them work in the high tech industry for their sperms are less active and less in numbers compare to average men, which is even worse than the international average.

Doctor Lai suspect that, those working in Hsinchu high tech industry have such problem because of high work pressure, marriage at an older age and less time to workout.

However, there are many companies in Hsinchu that would have a nice gym for the employees, some even would provide free massage service to alleviate their employees stress level.

Though employers are trying hard to change the working environment and conditions, many of the workers find it hard change their lifestyle under work stress. Doctors pointed out, it is preferred for those to seek the artificial insemination option before they hit 40.
