Influenced by the unstable political issues in oil producing countries, CPC Corporation has announced to raise the price for gas and diesel fuel by 0.7 and 0.8 NT dollar per liter. In response to the possible price hike, the government is now asking the public to help save energy by leaving their cars at home and instead, take public transportation one day out of the week. Gas prices jumped by 0.7 NT$ as their were few people filling up this morning. As Taiwan enters another era of high oil prices, the Ministry of Economic Affairs Energy Bureau has proposed the concept of not driving 1 day a week to save oil and carbon. While many agree that this would save fuel, some say it is very difficult to switch over to alternative transportation. Some people say that switching over to public transport is only possible in cities with an MRT system, and it is much more difficult in those cities without such a system. If oil prices go higher, and the cost of driving goes higher, some may switch to public transportation. Though for those without an MRT system, it will be very difficult and the feasibility of such a plan will still need to be observed. ◆ 追蹤更多華視影音及圖文新聞: 1.用Plurk追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤 2.用Twitter追蹤華視影音及圖文新聞:追蹤
