In Taipei City alone, approximately 40 percent of the residents, or 700,000 people are considered overweight or obese. To take the matter into their own hands, the city government is launching a weight-loss program, to help individuals shed some pounds. The goal is to find 101,000 people to lose 1 kilogram each, which is equivalent to 101 tons of excessive weight.

Dancing to the music is a great fat-burning exercise.

While it's no news that most of us have tried losing weight, now the Taipei city government is joining the effort to encourage city residents to shed off unwanted fat.

In Taipei City, nearly 40% of adults over the age of 18 are overweight or obese.

The population is about 700,000 and they are at health risks of cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

For the health of its residents, the city government is to encourage 101,000 people to lose 1 kilogram per person.

Together they are to lose 101 tons of weight.

Those from the age of 6 to 64 with an overweight BMI value can sign up for the weight-loss program at the website of Department of Health, which provides not only weight-loss information but some giveaways too.

Mr. Hsu, who's not happy with his expanding waistline signed up quickly.

The key to healthy weight loss is to eat less and exercise more, this would help one to keep a good figure and a healthy body.
