The impact of Japan's nuclear crisis is not only affecting its nation, but it is also hurting Japanese restaurants in Taiwan, who have been suffering from a decline of business by around 10 percent comparing to the same period last year. The Department of Health officials said that the government has been taking precautions by conducting radiation inspections on imported vegetables and seafood from Japan, to make sure that the food is safe to consume.

The high-end Japanese restaurant features fresh seafood delivered from Japan.

But due to the radiation crisis, the business is down by 10% than the same period last year.

So the restaurant purchased a radiation detection device to safeguard the health of customers.

The detection device shows 0.1 millisievert of radiation, which is within the normal value announced by the Atomic Energy Council.

Any substandard goods will be immediately returned to the sellers.

According to Department of Health, fruits, vegetables and seafood imported from Japan are under strict and constant monitoring and seafood products from disaster-hit areas are banned from import into Taiwan.

The health authority urges the public to stay calm and restaurants are seeking seafood from other countries as alternatives to serve their customers.
