In an effort to boost local tourism, a yacht business is taking initiative by offering a new ocean sightseeing package, inviting tourists to cruise along the coast of Kaohsiung County, which used to be a military control zone. Through the joint effort of private companies and the local government, the owner is confident that the latest route will generate greater business opportunities in the area.

The magnificent cliff of Chaishan and the coral reef along the Taiwan Strait have impressed many people, including the local Kaoshiung residents, who said that they have never seen this beautiful part of Kaohsiung.

In addition to the natural scenery, tourists will also see the Kaohsiung City from afar.

The sea area used to be a military control zone, and few people have entered this area.

The Kaohsiung City government is planning to open a new sea route that connects Kaohsiung Port and sightseeing spots long the original Koahsiung County to boost local tourism.

Before the city government starts the route, a yacht business owner starts the first sailing on Sunday from Kaohsiung Port to Zhikuan Kezhiliau fish port, which allows tourists to enjoy the western coast of Kaohsiung as well as recreational activities on the yacht.

The yacht business owner said that customers had positive response to their new service and he is confident that the route will attract many tourists.

However, he's worried that the government doesn't know how to manage the route.

He said that the government has tried to open sea routes around Taiwan to boost tourism in vain because the authorities run the routes for transportation purposes instead of for tourism.

The yacht business owner is now cooperating with fisherman associations along the coast to offer tourism packages.

Local fisherman associations believe that the business is promising.

They hope that the government can amend relevant regulations to make it easier for tourists to pass the security inspections at the ports, which will help local businesses to run the marine tourism better.
