To prevent radioactive contamination of cargo containers from entering Taiwan, the Keelung Customs Office is using x-ray scanning devices to detect shipments that are coming in from Sendai and other 12 Japanese ports. The Atomic Energy Council is also immediately informed once the radiation level is found to be unsafe. The Atomic Energy council would be immediately notified once the detection level is over 0.2 mSv/hr in any of the cargos The containers from Japan are immediately scanned for possible radioactive contamination through the large x-ray scanning machine. The warning signal would go off should the level be too high. All cargo containers from Mastushima, Sendai and other areas, in addition to the x-ray, staff would personally use hand-held device to check radioactivity level of anything over 0.2 mSv/hr. Those with that level or over would be considered in high risk group of contamination and the cargo would be confiscated and report to the Atomic Energy Council.
